Gender ・ Generations

Gender and generation serve as key analytical axes for understanding the underlying structure of inequality in the world. Japan, in particular, is one of the world's most aged societies and is characterized by significant gender disparities. The intersection of these two dimensions manifests in society as concrete problems and leads to serious forms of inequality. While both younger and older generations experience gender disparities, the ways in which they experience inequality are sometimes similar and other times distinctly different. This research will examine individuals’ well-being, socioeconomic conditions, population decline, and migration through the analytical lenses of gender and generation. Based on these findings, policy responses will also integrate gender and generational perspectives, aiming to define inclusive approaches that reflect real-world conditions.
