J-Aging Panel Survey
Japan is currently the most aged society in the world.
The J-Aging Panel was first launched in 2010 as a nationwide survey on the living conditions of middle-aged and older adults, targeting individuals aged 50 to 84 and above across Japan. Since then, the survey has been conducted biennially, with the eighth wave most recently carried out in 2024. The primary objective of this study is to examine the life-course dynamics of older adults, with particular attention to intergenerational transfers of care and financial resources, as well as family relationships with elderly parents and children. By generating foundational evidence, the study aims to support research and policy recommendations that contribute to building a more sustainable and inclusive super-aging society.
