An Empirical Analysis of Balancing Work and Caregiving in Japan
In recent years, the number of people balancing work and caregiving in Japan has been increasing. Using panel data on middle-aged and elderly people, this study investigates the impact of parental caregiving and the use of nursing care facilities on the employment behaviors and mental health of middle-aged and elderly children. As the number of people providing care and working is expected to rise in the future, evidence-based approaches that integrate caregiving and employment policies are needed to help family caregivers remain in the workforce.
